Victor Lee Austin is theologian-in-residence for the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. With special focus on ethics, his writings span the distance between the parish and the academy, and he has a particular interest in theology in everyday life.
He was married for 34 years to Susan Lanier Austin, who died in 2012. His theological memoir, Losing Susan, was published in 2016. He has two adult children and six grandchildren.
Other books include Up with Authority, Christian Ethics: A Guide for the Perplexed, A Priest’s Journal, and Priest in New York. In 2020 Baker Academic published his latest book, Friendship: The Heart of Being Human.
Before coming to Dallas, Father Austin was theologian-in-residence for Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue. Earlier he served parishes in Dutchess County, New York. He has taught as an adjunct at a number of colleges, universities, and seminaries.
