The Rev. Emily Hylden relishes wearing different hats; it began with her active imagination as an elementary-school student. Currently, she serves as vicar of St. Augustine’s Oak Cliff.
She has served served as a yoga instructor, as assistant to the pastor of Downtown Church, a PCUSA church plant, as canon for young adult ministries at Trinity Cathedral in Columbia, and as curate at the Church of St. Michael and St. George in St. Louis.
She was confirmed in the Episcopal Church in 2009 after she fell in love with the Daily Office and the reverence she witnessed in Anglican worship. Soon after, she matriculated at Duke Divinity School and answered a call to ordination. Since childhood, she’s felt most at home cooking, baking, and hosting parties — one might say that’s still the crux of her work as a priest.
Emily loves exploring Dallas with her husband, Jordan, also an Episcopal priest, and their sons, Charles and Don Grady. She blogs on spirituality and food at hope of things not seen.
